Over feeding formula?

Baby is 3 weeks and 3 days. Started off EBF but had a traumatic time and now only formula feeding (with occasional pumped breast milk). At birth she was 6lb 2oz, lost weight to 5lb 9oz on 23rd Aug then gained back to 6lb 7oz at 31 Aug. This is the last time she has been weighed by a professional. Today according to our scales (held by DP) and kitchen scales (in a bowl) she is 8lb 8oz

She’s been eating a lot (4floz every 2/3 hrs) some times she will still be giving feeding cues (clenched fists, hands in mouth, rooting, head butting etc) so this is when in tend to give her some breast milk in 1flz intervals. She does get trapped wind etc so don’t always feed extra and wait a while to see if she will eventually fall asleep / burp after winding etc and the crying is just wind related.

According to the growth chart she has gone from the 9th centile to around the 25th! Should we be concerned with this? It seems a massive gain in a short amount of time??

I think you need to get her weight checked properly - the health visitors have special scales which are calibrated etc. Ask your health visitor if they have any walk-in clinics to get her weighed.

Having a baby is an anxious time. Basically they're fine as long as they're having plenty of milk regularly, doing wet and dirty nappies, spending a few hours of each day awake and seem alert when awake. But if you're worried, contact your health visitor - it's what they're there for.

I would ask for a weight by HV. Mine went up 2 percentiles within like 2 months. She was a ganet. I mean she would feed every 2 hours at 150mls at 4 weeks old (if not more) now my LO hasnt gained any weight since she was 4 months old (maybe a lb here and there) and she's now leveling off.

May be reflux thinking about it? As feeding more helps it doesn't it? If I member right?

I agree with getting her weighed at a proper clinic rather than just on the kitchen scales, and then if she is still heavier than expected you can ask the HV for advice.

Ok thanks. hv appointments here aren’t really happening and she said the next time she would be weighed would be at her 6wk appointment but I’ll speak to someone.

If you have concerns you should be able to phone up and ask to see someone.

Agree with pp. I had to literally have a go at my HV to be seen, as nothing was happening. Lock down baby. I haven't seen my HV since 3 months 😂
