Another (slightly crazy...) reason to start, keep up and extend BF

Now before yall go thinking I'm some paranoid American survivalist with a gun at my door and a 10 year supply of army rations, I'm not.... But I have been reading up on emergency planning for all kinds of reasons and...

both the sane end of the spectrum (see news on emergency response feeding issues) and the slightly more paranoid (see this board especially message by ajzthings) think extended BF and indeed relactation (for the whole family! just imagine if the electric goes off in a crisis and you need a little, er, help with injecting those immunogloulins into them all... ) in the event of a flu pandemic would be entirely rational.

Whaddaya think?

The US has an emergecy feeding response document. Hurricane Katrina highlighted the importance of such a plan and yes, bf plays a big part in it.

I have to confess it had occurred to me that lactating could be quite handy if there's a flu pandemic this winter. But I also stockpiled UHT milk and canned goods just in case. Am a little neurotic I think.....

I don't think a little bit of stockpiling is neurotic since even the govt's latest advice is to do so (not just those crazy survivalists...)
