Baby biting me :(

My DS is 9 months old and EBF since birth. Recently he has started to bit down on my nipple when feeding - usually at the start or end of a feed. I know it's probably cos of teething, but OW! it hurts! (He has 5 teeth). How do I get him to stop?

I had this. I tried shouting (not too loud!) but baby didn’t care - hadn’t developed empathy yet Grin The successful approach was to say a firm “no” and immediately remove baby and put him down elsewhere (eg cot).

My eldest bit me quite a few times before I worked this out. My second bit me precisely once!

By shouting, I mean saying “ouch!” loudly, as a reaction to the bite. Not yelling at / telling off the baby…

My DS was 9 months old when he bit my nipple. Twice.
Agony!
That's when I decided I had breast fed him for long enough. Smile

Try saying 'no' firmly and putting him down.

DD did this. There's an old thread somewhere where I asked the same question!

The advice to say "no" and put her down was spot on (though she cried and I felt awful) - I think she only did it twice after I started doing that!
