Have any of you tried domperidone for low milk supply? My lactation consultant suggested that I give it a go. Apparently GPs don’t prescribe it willingly but I’d like to try if it works !

I did ten years ago, it was a battle to get it then. It didn't make any difference to me. I very much doubt they will prescribe it now.

It's prescription only so you would need to ask your GP and I very much doubt they would prescribe it as it is not licensed for such use.

I was prescribed it 7 years ago by my GP and it seemed to help. didn't know they'd stopped it.

Also domperidone has numerous cardiac side effects, whilst less than 0.1% of the maternal dose is present in breast milk it cannot be excluded that the infant may suffer such side effects as well as the mother.

Worked amazingly for me but sadly DS's tummy was very sensitive to it so had to stop

Currently on day 3 for low milk supply 1 tablet 3 times a day. I cannot see any difference yet Sadthink I was hoping for a miracle. Baby is 16 weeks and dropped a centile from the 75th to the 50th. Refuses a bottle so I have no idea what I'm going to do if these don't work

Are you still taking them? How are you getting on? Domperidone doesn’t work for everyone. I don’t know what the situation is with it in the UK, in America it can’t be gotten for this purpose. I live in Ireland and was able to get it prescribed by my GP. I am taking 6 a day. I was told by my ibclc that it would take two weeks to see a difference, it took four weeks for me.

How did you get on OP? I'm in the same situation...very stressful!
