breast feeding and pumping

Hi everyone! i feel like i’ve had a massive dip in my supply. When my milk first came in i would feed my baby, catch about an ounce in let down and then pump and get a least 2 ounces. At one point i was getting 6oz a time. Now i’m not even getting any let down, and whenever I pump im lucky to even get an ounce.

my baby is 8 weeks old and feeds on demand, sometimes he will go 3 hours sometimes he will go 20 minutes, so i never know when to pump because i’m worried he will want to feed and i’ve just pumped and there won’t be any milk.

how can i increase my supply and when should i pump?

Pumping is really time consuming and in my opinion just sends your milk supply haywire. If pumping is stressing you out and adding to the already hard period of being a mum just lay it to rest for now.

It sounds like you're feeding so much your baby day just simply can't keep up with providing for baby and machine

Sorry don't feel like a answered that very well, your body is great at producing the milk you need and as long as your baby seems to be happy and content then try not to worry. It's really stressful not knowing how much they are feeding but try to relax and have confidence that your body knows exactly what to do! X

Why do you need to pump or increase your supply? Is your baby gaining weight and peeing / pooing normally?

@shouldistop i need to build up a supply
for when I go back to work, and yes baby is

Ah ok, how long have you got for when you go back to work?
What time does baby go to bed and does he do a long stretch of sleep at any point?
If baby goes to bed at 8pm for example and doesn't feed for a few hours then could you pump at 10pm?
