Very tender breasts - advice needed

Hi, I am breastfeeding my 5 week old son and have very sore, tender breasts. It is the whole of the breast area, there are no lumpy bits and
they are not engorged (apart from sometimes at night if he goes a bit longer than normal between feeds)and my nipples are fine and pain free. I am sure it is not mastitis as I had that with my DD, and I do not remember having this soreness when I was breastfeeding her.

Has anyone experienced this - or any advice on what to do?
Thank you

Are your breasts hot? Or red at all? This can be a sign of infection. Or it could just be that your son is going through a growth spurt and your boobs are suddenly gearing up.

You can try warm or cold flannels on them. Personally I used to go in the bath when this happened to me and soak them and if there was any blockages or engorgement I'd get little fountains of milk spurting out which sorted the problem.

No not hot or red, I think I will try the flannel thing as that helped sooth them when my milk originally came in.
thanks

Cabbage leaves are also good (though they make your norks a tad smelly )
