My 8 month old is refusing any juice/water

Any ideas on how to get my 8 month old to drink his water/juice he won't have any of it, he seems to be agitated when feeding him his formula too and it takes ages for him to drink it. He's started solid foods and seems to love his meals he has no issues when it comes to eating. I'm worried incase he starts to dehydrate, is this normal and should I be worrying as much????

How much milk does he still have? Mine just had sips of water alongside meals; they weren't drinking cupfuls but that was OK as they still had plenty of milk

He doesn’t need juice. At eight months, water is just for meal times - don’t force it, just serve it with the food and let him play. Milk at all other times.

Don’t stress him or hurry him on drinking his milk. If you’re worried, keep an eye on nappies – enough wet ones means he’s not dehydrated. And serve hydrating foods: cucumber sticks and other vegetables, fruit, soup.

Agree with the others, he doesn't need juice or water at this age, his milk should be enough unless you are somewhere very hot.

Just offer a sippy cup with some water when he eats and that should be enough.

As a PP suggested if you're worried about dehydration offer some water high foods such as broccoli, cauliflower, jelly, cucumber, soup, melon and strawberries (but not all mixed together Grin)

He shouldn’t be having juice at all at 8 months.

Water is just for sipping alongside meals, it’s not necessary for hydration unless you live somewhere incredibly hot. The water from his milk is enough to meet his hydration needs.

No need for the abruptness and rudeness. But my son has 3 meals a day (prefers his food than his milk) so I was suggested by my health visitor to start offering water or juice so he doesn't start dehydrating. "Shouldnt" isn't a term to use as every baby is different. Where's the rule book saying at 8 months old babies should not drink juice or water. Anyways My son has now started to take to it and drinks at least 6 ounces a day of water or juice because he wants too and is completely fine. Thankyou to everyone else :)

my pediatrician literally prescribed 1-2 ounces of juice a day.
