10 month old refusing formula

Hi there, my 10 month old son has started refusing milk feeds, this was loosely his schedule:

7am - porridge made with 4/5oz formula and some in a sippy cup
11.30am - lunch
2pm - milk feed (refusing)
4.30pm - tea
6pm - bath
6.30pm - milk feed (also refused)

He has had a chesty cough for a while with usual cold symptoms, his nappies have been off I think with teething also.

Any suggestions, or cause for concern? TIA

Could be he's finding it hard to breathe through his nose?

Give nurofen and anbesol liquid for teething pain and try again.

If he's had the cough for longer than a week with no improvement/getting worse it might be worth asking a nurse to check in case its a chest infection. They will probably ask if you've done a covid test before you can bring him in though.

Hi guys thanks for your comments. He's more snotty than bunged up. We've been using nurofren and anbesol but still not happy boy. Also contacted the GP last week to speak about his continued cough but they didn't seem worried or ask to see us.

Could you swap the 2.30 pm milk for a cup of milk and a snack?

Sheenabradshaw · 15/08/2021 20:45

That's a good suggestion, I will give it a go - thanks 😊

Could try offering milk before solids so milk when he gets up pre breakfast etc. My nearly 9 month old seems to not have have loads during the day if we are out ( definitely fomo) but will have more in the evening.

Oh and don't forget that at 10 months they only need 400 ml or around 13.5 floz of formula a day.

Does that sound like roughly what he's getting?
