we give dd a bottle before bed she is bf the rest of the time.
shes coming up for 6 months
when she has the bottle she starts to get sleepy.then when we change her nappy before putting her to bed that stirs her up and then she can take ages to get sleepy again
so just wondering what you do?

ive heard alot of people say they have a bath bottle then bed, but do they do a nappy inbetween?

thanks

nappy before bottle

Pannacotta · 29/11/2007 17:09

DS2 is bfed but would still do nappy first then feed, same principle (nappy change wakes them up).

how long does the bottle take? If 3 hours I'd change her

but if less I wouldn't bother and would just do it at the next feed

bluejelly · 29/11/2007 17:14

I think you can cut down on nappy changes after a few months... I did anyway

babieseverywhere · 29/11/2007 17:17

@I think you can cut down on nappy changes after a few months
I thought nappies got changed after every wee/poo ? Or are disposables different to cloth nappies ?

Pannacotta · 29/11/2007 17:17

We don't change DS2's nappy at night now (I did for the first couple of months). He has a fresh nappy after his bath (with barrier cream/balm on his bits), then a feed, then bed.

bottles only take about 20-30 mins
she guzzles it !

after every wee?
I'd never do anything else

dd gets done after a poo, every feed or every 3h, whichever is sooner (but if we are out for 4h, say, I might wait till we get home)

monkeybird · 29/11/2007 18:38

I second Mrs Badger's approach - and also if it only sounds like a tiny poo in the night, I only change if he's bothered by it... And if it sounds like it's hitting the sides, back and armpits (which I have to admit it OFTEN does...) I do change him...

mawbroon · 29/11/2007 18:44

Around this age was when I started to deliberately stir ds before bed if he was nodding off so that he would learn to self settle. He was already in a clean nappy straight from his bath, but as others have said, I would change it if he had exploded in between times.

NoviceKnitter · 29/11/2007 19:02

i also change dd around every 3 hours in the day or sooner if a poo. I don't change her after final clean nappy post bath/top and tail unless there's a poo - it means a big wee in the morning nappy change but she's not had any prob with rashes or anything and it means neither of us has a major interruption to sleep... mostly anyway...
