Breastfeeding Catching Letdown

I'm a FTM and breastfeeding my 10 day old DD. I remember reading about collecting the letdown from the opposite breast using a Hakka pump as well as expressing/pumping for bottle feeding. I haven't started expressing yet as I want to make sure BF is well established but thought I could try collecting any letdown. However, I don't seem to have any. The opposite boob is often full and stays that way until I switch to it for her next feed. Is the idea that I express/pump from it or should I just be looking to catch anything that comes out naturally?

You could always use breast shells to collect any leaks but if you're not leaking, I really wouldn't worry about it yet Smile

As pp say, if you're not leaking, there is really nothing to do here Smile

If you actively want to start expressing and build up a stash, that's one thing, but I would go on as you are for a few weeks anyway to make sure BF is well established.

Thanks both, I'll hold off doing anything for now then as breastfeeding is going pretty well and don't want to mess with it. If I do start leaking I'll look into the breast shells (are they the ones that fit inside your bra?)

So a week on and I'm definitely noticing an increase in the amount of milk leaking from the opposite breast when I'm feeding DD. I'm using washable beast pads but getting through so many in a day that I'm thinking it may be time to invest in some breast shells. Does anyone have any recommendations of ones they've found good?
