Express Mon-Fri only?

Hi, this is probably a silly question but is it possible to BF at the weekend without expressing? I currently express at work 3/4 times a day and would like to BF at the weekend but have to express and feed DD from a bottle on Sat/Sun aswell otherwise I won't have enough EBM to leave for Monday. Its a neverending situation as far as I can see but I miss the closeness of BF and only manage to do it first thing in the morning.

My dd breastfed up until 10months almost. I went back to work and never expressed. She was fussy and was offered a bottle in the day but wouldn'take it so I just fed her morning and night. I only worked for three days but found that over the weekend (I worked weds-fri) I would feed her three or four times a day and my milk supply would increase over the two days. I know your situation is a bit different but I would try it and see. There is a bit of a risk that your milk supply will lower but make sure you eat and drink plently and rest as much as you can, you'll probably be ok. Its miserable expressing all the time. Good Luck.

I have just realised I think I have misunderstood your message. The point I made was that breastfeeding/milk supply is flexible, which applies in any situation I guess. In terms of just bf at weekend you could express some milk (e.g. 2-3 oz at each feed) prior to feeds at weekend and save this for the week. Then bf after expressing, there should still be enough left to feed!

If you express on Friday, you can freeze the milk to use on Monday.

Thanks EffiePerine, once I made the time to sit down and think about it I came to that conclusion too. Shows how tired I am that I didn't think of that in the first place
