How newborn? A newborn shouldn’t have constipation….have you talked to HV

Eleoura · 28/07/2021 23:54

A newborn shouldn't have just milk! Do you mean you are mixing it with
baby, powdered formula???

Eleoura · 28/07/2021 23:55

Sorry, obviously a newborn has just milk, but I'm confused by what you mean?

dementedpixie · 29/07/2021 00:00

You get goats milk formula so I assume that's what OP is talking about

bg21 · 29/07/2021 00:02

are you feeding your baby cows milk? not formula ?

NiceGerbil · 29/07/2021 00:04

Newborn needs human milk or formula.

Milk from different mammals has different compositions to suit their babies eg human milk contains a lot more sugars than cows milk. Formula is made from i think cows milk but is altered to mimic the composition of breast milk.

You should not be feeding a newborn any other sort of milk.

dementedpixie · 29/07/2021 06:55

You can get cows milk based formula and also goats milk based formula. I'm sure the OP doesn't mean they are giving standard milk rather than infant Formula

charlie200 · 29/07/2021 22:16

Yeah it's the formula

Theres nanny milk I think it's called, goats milk formula. I've heard goats milk is better than cow's milk and supposedly helps with allergies.

My middle one had colic, tried the drops before and after breastfeeding and it helped get any trapped wind but she was never constipated. What has your health visitor said?
