Will my supply drop

DD is 15 weeks old and has bronchiolitis 😔
I was in a&e with her for 6 hours late Monday night. Luckily her obs were good and she didn't need to be admitted thank goodness.

We are EBF and she has been feeding what I feel like is a lot less while she's been poorly. She's sleeping a lot more too. doctor wasn't concerned as she was still having wet and dirty nappies and blood sugar was okay. She also was born at term and a healthy weight.

But should I be pumping while she's poorly and not eating as much? Or just trust that she will feed when she's hungry and take what she needs and possibly cluster feed when she's better if my supply does dip?

DS was in hospital with Bronchiolitis 2 weeks ago at 5 weeks old, he is also EBF. His feeding went really downhill the day or so prior to admission and he had to be tube fed but it was a lower volume than I believe he would've been taking on a normal feed. I pumped for his tube feeds but was pumping less frequently than he would usually feed. Since we've come home his feeding quickly got back to a normal and a week or so after his discharge we had a couple of brutal cluster feeding days but these could be developmental growth spurts.
With Bronchiolitis they are working that hard to breathe they don't have the energy to feed as breastfeeding involves work for them so I'd keep offering little and often.

Sorry to hear your DS had to stay in hospital 😔 it's absolutely awful isn't it! Must have been horrendous for you with him being so tiny! Thanks

My supply is well established now I think but I have noticed I feel a lot more engorged during the day while she's been poorly which does make me think she isn't taking as much.
I think you're right about little and often! I don't really have time to pump as she doesn't want to be put down and I have a 4yo! So I think I'll just trust she knows what she's doing and will bring my supply up again if she needs to.

Hope your DS is a lot better now x

By now your supply will adjust very quickly to meet her needs.

Hopefully she's starting to feel better now

Thank you! She has fed a lot better this evening so hopefully it's because she's starting to feel better

Thankfully once he started to pick up he picked up really quickly and apart from a bit of a cough is now back to normal. So worrying when they are ill though and are only babes in arms. Hopefully your DD will rally just as quickly
