Hi FTM here, just wondering if you choose not to breastfeed what will happen with breast/breast milk? Just trying to prepare myself. If I choose not to express will it just 'dry up' on its own? I have bought breast pads just wondering if would need anything else?

Yes it’ll just disappear

Your milk will come in and your boobs will get huge for a few days. Wear a bra at all times and prepare for a bit of discomfort.

Mine dried up in less than a week all 3 times.

Definitely stock up on breast pads!

I didn't bf any of my 3 dcs. I wore sports bra one size smaller than me and put cold cabbage leaves between my boobs and the bra, changing those about twice a day. You basically want to restrict as much movement as possible. They'll balloon, get hugely firm and throb! But stick to that routine and within about 3 weeks they'll soften.

As pps have said , your breasts will fill to capacity , so wear a good fitting bra , even to bed in the days after the birth. I found ibuprofen and laying with a bag of peas on my chest helped relieve the discomfort , it will pass within a week. I did find it painful though , just to warn you.

I chose to not breastfeed or express at all. I assumed that loose tops would be the answer but I was told by a midwife to wear tighter tops and to not touch my boobs. It dried up within 2-3 weeks.
