A NICE comment from someone on public bf!

Fed DS (17 weeks) in a cafe today, on same sofa as older woman who didn't look too friendly at first glance.

Was braced for being picked on, but instead she started telling me about her daughter bfing for 15 months, complimented me on my beautiful baby and praised me for giving him "a lovely start to life".

Just wanted to share because there's far too many people who make negative remarks.

wow! that's a warm and fuzzy moment!

Gosh - honestly I don't think I would be brave enough to comment on someone bf, anywhere! I would just ignore them. Do you think I should cheer her on a bit, instead?

Yesterday I was feeding dd in a cafe when the waitress who was sweeping up realised I was feeding and apologised for disturbing me, saying she hadn't realised. I said I was glad I'd managed to be discreet, and it was no big deal. We got into a conversation where she said that some cafes "don't allow" it, and I explained I thought the law was about to change to make that attitude illegal. She said her cafe would always be fine with it, anyway!

The young lady at the next table then told me she hadn't even noticed what I was doing.

I keep hoping that people will gradually just chill out about the whole thing and bf in public will just be a big fat non-issue.

Nice to get the support, isn't it!

I used to know a (radical & BF friendly) midwife who told me everytime she saw a BF mother, she used to go up, smile and ask if she needed her (midwife) to get her a drink of water... I'd be made up if someone did that for me.

I always give a big smile (a genuine one - I think it's lovely) and try not to look like a lunatic.

hoxtonchick · 23/11/2007 22:02

i have to stop myself going up to people who are feeding & gushing to them how lovely it is & how much i miss feeding mine now they're bigger. but i don't as it's a bit too loony....
