Transitioning from bottle to cup

So my son just turned 8 months old and I want to try transitioning him onto a sippy cup. For a while he has been able to drink out of the Tommee Tippee ones with the flatter type spout (silicone one) and can also drink out of other brands with a silicone spout. He's also got a Munchkin 360 cup but he hasn't figured that out yet.

He is having meals but is also still having 5 bottles of formula a day. Anyone who has transitioned their child to a sippy cup did you do this for all their bottles once they could use them? So the bottle nipple shaped teats were no longer used?

I'm just confused as they say from 6 months or so it's better for their development to use a sippy cup. But there's so many different types I don't know what type is best 🤦🏻‍♀️ also I've not yet found a sippy cup with measurement on like his bottles, I know I'd just have to make it in the bottle and then transfer it into the cup but I just need some advice. What type of sippy cup did you find best? And by what age did you completely ditch the bottle teats?

Most of the information I've seen says to wait until 12 months.

Between 12 and 24 months he'll only need 300 ml of full fat formula a day so it will be much easier to give in a cup

6 months for introducing a cup for water and then 1 year for using a cup for milk. I wouldn't bother trying a cup for formula at 8 months as you'd need to make it up in the bottle then transfer to a cup. I'd wait until they were having fewer milk feeds too.

Thank you, that's what I was thinking surely it would be a pain trying to make up feeds whilst I'm out without the measurements. Luckily you can get tommee tippee spout like teats that fit the regular bottle ring and he's fine drinking from them so when it comes to it may just start off that way. Just feels like sometimes everywhere you get information from clashes with what you've previously read 🤦🏻‍♀️
