Warning TMI & pics - Normal baby poop or allergy?

Dd is 9 weeks old, combi fed due to low BM supply.

She's quite a fussy grizzly baby especially a short time after feeds, even during. Draws knees up in pain often after feeds. Gets woken up by belly pain.

My DS nappy content looked exactly like this as well for a while (around this age), though he was EBF. Also, he didn't seem to be in pain, but was a very refluxy baby..
Sorry if I can't be of any more help xx

Allergy. Dds was just like this and would go right up her back, watery, yellow, pain, cried all the time, etc.

Feed sitting upright and wind for ages after a feed.

Speak to your health visitor.

@seepingweeping thank you. So sad she's had to put up with this. Being a FTM thought it was just normal baby fussing and poo, but she's been increasingly fussy and now the peak of fussiness was meant to be at 6 weeks I'm wondering if what we thought was normal actually isn't 😭

Can't offer any help really as my LO is 4 weeks so I have very little experience. For what it's worth though, this is what I thought was normal.

This will at least bump your post up a little anyway x

Allergy!

The allergy could be anything but there are some great Facebook CMPA allergy groups.

What make you think you had low supply? Are you wanting to combi feed or would you prefer ff or ebf?

CharlieChickenson · 03/07/2021 21:10

The mucus in it indicates an irritated bowel to me. I'd speak to a HV or GP personally. Worst they will say is it's normal and give advice on how to manage feeds and wind to make her more comfortable.

Looks normal to me. Baby poop is watery and yellow, especially if baby is partially breastfed. Google “normal baby poo” and you’ll see lots of pictures (lovely) that match why you’ve posted basically.

Just being a bit fussy js very common for this age and is not an indication of an allergy. Google CMPA and look at the list of symptoms, you would normally get a lot worse than this. DD2 has CMPA and she was covered in a horrible rash all over her face, had mucous in her nappies, was badly congested and screamed inconsolably foe 5+ hours every day. If she is just a bit fussy then it won’t be an allergy.

Bobbots · 03/07/2021 21:11

Sorry can’t really see mucous in the pics you’ve posted but if there is then it may just be a mild intolerance?

DS is in his 30s now but I remember as a baby he used to cry and draw up his knees in pain. Turned out to be colic and the GP prescribed Merbentyl which sorted it but I think they don't use it anymore. His nappies weren't like in your photos though.
