Very windy!

My little one is 4 weeks old and is generally a happy happy. He is formula fed on Cow and Gate.
But, about once or twice a day, he gets upset and cries and really squeezes, pushes and strains. It can happen at any time although I have noticed it tends to be when he has wind from his bottom. It must be trapped wind. When he passes the wind he stops and is back to his happy self. He always does a lot of grunting and groaning around this time and during the night. He wakes himself up from his naps too.

When this happens, it is only drinking milk that seems to help, but he cries and strains when drinking, The milk seems to push out the wind but he seems so uncomfortable. I have tried a dummy but if doesn’t seem to help in the same way. He always burps really well during and after feeds and is sometimes a little bit sick after feeds but not much.

Has anyone else had a similar experience please? I am wondering whether colief or gripe water or infacol might help? I tried infacol for a few days but hasn’t seemed to make much difference.

It sounds pretty normal for them to do this at that age, their digestive systems are still so immature.

If you think the wind is really troubling him, you could try the Tiger in the Tree Hold or put Dentinox in the bottles.
