Breast feeding cut!

Help!!!! I have developed the most painful breast feeding cut under my nipple and it won't heal! I've had antibiotic cream to clear the infection but now it just needs to heal. I had mastitis which led to lazy feeding and lazy latch which is where the cut began! My son is 13 months but regularly feeds still and to make matter worse he only feeds off this side. He will not entertain a nipple sheild and I can't pump. Anyone have any advise? It's really really getting me down now. This is week 3 :(

That sounds truly awful. Are you getting any RL support?

I'm not getting any support. I've contacted our local breast feeding network who gave some tips incl speak to gp or wet wound healing which I'm trying... the go fobbed me off with a telephone app with a clinician who gave me the cream and suggested a nipple guard but he's too old for the guard. He kept biting it :(

I'd see if you can find a BFC. Maybe see if there's a LLL Leader near to you or call one of the BFing Helplines tonight. It does sound as if you need more support then a BFing Forum may be able to provide

I had a nipple cut few days ago, not sure what's the advice out there, but I used sudocrem and it healed quite well. I fed ds on the other breast though, so not sure how it'd work for you. Besh wishes

Try jelonet dressings - they're designed for burns but are great for healing.
Put a fresh one on between feeds and wipe clean before you feed.

What pp's have said and be really pedantic about DC's latch being right. If it isn't take them off (pull breast out from the underside so they can't hold on through suction) and try again.

Get silver cups, they heal cuts and sores on the nipple area so quickly. You can buy from Amazon.

Silver nipple cups- Amazon have them and they are apparently amazing at healing the nipple skin. I haven’t personally used them but the reviews all looks very positive
