My DD is 2 days old and becoming a challenge breastfeeding her especially latching on. And when she does it's a only a quick two suck. So thinking of adding some formula milk.

Wanted to get advice on what others are doing in regards to waiting 30min after boiling kettle water.

Do you want 30min to cool down or is there another recommendation to speed up the process?

Thanks.

I never waited 30min for the formula to cool down, i just put the bottle into a bowl of cold water to cool it down (test on your wrist before giving to baby).

If you’re wanting to continue breastfeeding it’s probably a better idea to get some help with that first - 2 days is still so, so early to know if it’s going well or not. Baby is learning how to do it too!

Agree with PP regarding the breastfeeding but as for the formula you just have to make the feed up before 30 minutes - so can do it before and cool the bottle in a bowl of cold water

Our go to is make it straight away using just boiled water. Take the teat cover top off and swirl the bottle to mix the powder, found this allows steam to escape out the teat as it’s so hot and stops it leaking everywhere. Then we plonk it in a gin glass with cold water and a few ice cubes and swirl it round until it’s cool.
Then you can use the nicely chilled gin glass for an actual gin afterwards Grin

But I do agree if you’re passionate about keeping going with BF 2 days is the hard part at the start, your baby may even have tongue tie so could be worth asking for help. But your choice, you do what you want 😊 I mix fed before moving to formula too
