Best, non foamy formula for constipation

3wo DS is currently on cow & gate. He has powder during the day and ready made at night. The powder makes for such a foamy feed which he seems to struggle with. Lots of snuffling noises whilst he feeds.

He can be a bit sicky too, although he can be following the ready made so I don't think it's just the foam that does it.

DS is also a reluctant poo-er. He can easily go a couple of days between poos, and he can get quite upset when he does go. It's very soft, "normal" yellow poo but it makes me wonder if it's uncomfortable for him or possibly painful. Midwives aren't worried by his lack of frequency, and otherwise he seems fine.

I don't think the cow & gate suits him, so does anyone have recommendations for alternatives that aren't as foamy and is good for constipation? Thanks!

He's not constipated if the poo is soft when it arrives. They do put a lot of effort into doing the toilet at that age so everything sounds pretty normal to me

Constipation would be hard and pellet like.
Or water leakage around the blockage.

It all sounds like a normal baby feeding

Yes, you're right - he's not constipated. My concern is the infrequency of his bowel movements. All the information I was given when we in hospital was about 2-3 dirty nappies a day.
