Trapped wind 4 week old

Nix99 · 16/06/2021 00:22

I've been told by gp my 4 week old has trapped wind and to start using infacol. I started earlier today (have probably used about 5 times so far) and just wondered when it is normal to start seeing results from it. (Am exclusively bf)

Also it is v difficult to get a burp out of baby. Does anyone have any tips to help please.

Also would using a dummy help with trapped wind?

First of all, your baby being exclusively breastfed is an excellent thing. Also, what we eat will be represented in our baby so make sure you eat enough in all dietary areas but especially fibre-rich. Drink plenty of water/milk. Using a dummy will really help with a burp. Putting baby over shoulder and burping too. For trapped wind, massaging your baby’s lower part of belly and doing cycle movements with baby’s legs will all help. These should be more than enough to help little one.

Have a look on YouTube at the "Tiger in the Tree Hold". It really is a great way to burp and settle little babies Smile

I only came on to suggest this and was beaten to it!

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but it may not work at all

What symptoms does your baby have that made the GP suggest ‘trapped wind’?

Look up how to cycle their legs as well.
My ebf baby had bad wind and wouldn't be put down for about 4/5 weeks but a combination of cycling/tiger tree/infacol/lots of water for me seemed to help. No idea what did it but something worked!
