Combined feeding, will i lose my milk supply

So my baby is just over 12 weeks old and has decided that she will only breastfeed roughly between 11pm and 10.30am! When I try to feed her during the day, she gets all frustrated and keeps coming off but is desperate to feed. I personally think shes just too alert and nosey during the day now. The last week I've been feeding her expressed bottles during the day but struggling to keep up with pumping. If i was to substitute a couple of feeds with formula, would my body still produce the milk for the night/early morning feeds? I still want to pump but not to the point where it takes over my life.

If you think it's because she's distracted, could you try feeding her in the bedroom or another quiet place? Sticking a sheet over her might help as well.

Feeding formula in the day shouldn't affect your supply too much if she's feeding overnight but you're probably best talking your options through with a BFC before deciding what you want to do.

I second the above; at that age my DS kept pulling off and it did my head it and felt hanging. So we went to bed and every feed was lying down in a dark room, I’d just watch a series on my phone and he’d be there for ages.

But to answer your actual question, the hormone that produces the milk is creates in the night so if you’re still feeding then it should be fine. You’ll milk will adjust to the lesser requirement.

Definitely practice paced feeding if you plan on combi though, and a slow flow teat.

My sons 4 months and for the last couple of weeks he’s only been having BFs at around 7pm, 10am and then if he wakes up in the night (which touch wood he sometimes doesn’t do now). I started at 1 bottle at one month and have introduced another one every few weeks.
I didn’t get on well with BF so I said I wouldn’t be bothered if my supply dried up but it’s actually seeming to be doing well adjusting and now I’m only doing 2-3 feeds a day I’m not minding doing it anymore.
But I do second what the others are saying, I sometimes put white noise on my phone if he’s being fussy and it settles him right down. 😊

Thank you great to know! And I have tried going into the bedroom where its dark and quiet but still no luck! But we've actually had a better couple of days, manage to BF her when she's sleepy and/or just woken up!
