Help, newish mom here :')
I'm weaning 18 mo daughter from breastfeeding and my breasts have gotten painful and hard as they are engorged. Does anyone know what I can do to reduce the pain and reduce the engorgment.

Thanks a lot!

I weaned my twins off not so long ago. I would just express the pressure off - so maybe 30-50ml from each just to give you some relief and gradually decrease the amount. You'll be surprised how quick your body adjusts

Thank you! I'll try that right away! I was worried expressing it would stimulate more production. Thanks for sharing! ❤️

Don't drop more than one feed at a time. You'll feel very full and uncomfortable but your body will adjust in a few days and you can drop the next feed. Going cold turkey will give you mastitis.

my twins fed every 3 hours (not at the same time!) so I started by dropping a feed from each boob. If I got uncomfortable I had a tommee tippee silicone hand pump which I would just use to take the pressure off. Every day I would drop one more feed - within a week they were fully weaned and the uncomfortable pressure feeling was only really at its worse for 2-3days or so then it settled right down

Also I'd have a really hot bath in the evening so they'd sort of leak on their own and I'd express a few ml in there and that would make night times less uncomfortable

Hey! Than you! I've been doing that and I'm down to 2 feedings but Lo nurses to sleep and I have a medication I gave to start so have to drop the last two now :( I tried relieving pressure and showed my let my daughter touch my rock hard breast haha and told her it hurts and she actually went to bed without it! I am so relieved! Now have to keep it up!

Thank you so much for the tips and sharing your experience!! ❤️❤️I'm glad to hear that the discomfort goes away in a couple of days!
