Just stumbled across this website and had the feeling that some of you would be interested in seeing these...

I just thought, you show us these nice dolls and I come on and go "oh much too expensive look at THESE"

BeautifulBoysGalore · 14/11/2007 21:26

am impressed by the variety available on here

and given that you know that thing about abused children , rhubs, i can kinda understand you not being too keen on them, but i think the anatomical correctness and actual birth and feeding thing is really quite refreshing.

is totally the sort of thing my mother would have gotten us, if shed known about it. not that she 'did' dolls lol.

i can see myself buying one of those families if i was pg agin sometime in next few years and felt one of my existing brats darling children needed it all explaining... though ds1 was perfectly at ease with my pregnancies last times.

dp would, of course, laugh his head off and scoff at my lentil weaveriness!!

Depends on the age of the kids for the birth ones. But my view is that dolls are seen as babies most children. They put them in prams and cots and want to feed them bottles, so getting anatomically correct male and female dolls is rather beside the point. And like I said, they have another usage.

I just don't think it's necessary. Why would you buy a pregnant doll for your child? Why would you buy a male doll with a willy? I guess I just don't 'get' it.

FrannyandZooey · 14/11/2007 21:39

Well, I'd like to get one for ds, I think. He is interested in how babies are born, in a very innocent way, and I think these dolls are a sweet way for that to be played out. I don't see a problem with the male dolls having a willy - it is an important part of the body to ds, and I think it is perhaps a little odd that it gets left off most dolls, rather than that it is odd that it is included here?

BeautifulBoysGalore · 14/11/2007 21:52

my kids are kinda curious in a v innocent way in the fact that i dont have a willy (im the only female in the house). think they may think theres something amiss with that .
they are also vaguely curious in the mechanics of exactly how ds3 came out of my belly.
i guess it would be nice to have a really casual easy going way of showing how it happens, rather than a choice between glossing over the details or going into huge amounts of deail... dyswim? i dont want to make a big deal out of it, but i dont want to be coy either. coz why should i? its perfectly natural and wonderful, right?

Princesspowersparkle · 14/11/2007 22:42

Why on earth would you buy a male doll WITHOUT a willy?? Boys have willies and I would be quite happy for my child to know this! (Can you tell I had a boy doll when I was little. Complete with willy. And I was very imaginative in naming him. He was called 'Boy'!)

harpsichordsahoy · 14/11/2007 22:44

oh they're nice.
v expensive, but nice.

Rhubarb · 15/11/2007 20:32

These aren't boys though are they? Dh would be proud of that willy!

They do have baby boys with willies that even wee. But these dolls are grown adults and that, I guess, is what I was getting at. In my mind dolls were always babies. I don't even like the Bratz dolls, but I can see that little girls would like dressing them. What would a child do with these dolls?

S1ur · 15/11/2007 20:50

I suppose the thing is, its not about sex - you're not thinking they be using dolls gentials for sexual role-play - highly unlikely I'd thought at toddler age - mopre that to omit body parts everyone has is like saying these bits are 'different' possibly 'not right'? I not saying that's what your saying more is that what is being implied by sexless dolls. Ithink toddlers would use them to pretend to piss personally - maybe the tods I know are just potty-brained but there you go. They hopefully wouldn't dweel anyway, just get on with playing as they would any doll just this one more like them than traditional dolls
