7 month old loves breakfast but hates lunch!

Hi all

Baby has porridge in the morning with fruit, nut butter and she loves it and devours it

But she HATES having lunch! She won't have any of it, clamps her mouth shut. Funny thing is she used to eat lunch no problem but as of a week ago she just refuses. She's spoon fed so I might try BLW but it's just strange as she doesn't mind being spoon fed in the morning

Does anyone else have any suggestions?

Give her what she has for breakfast for lunch too?

Best advice I was given: Food is fun until you're one.

Don't sweat it. It doesn't matter. Keep giving her milk feeds and let her enjoy learning about food. Definitely let her try finger food etc. She is tiny yet so let it be a game.

At 7 months don't worry. Just offer and then it's up to her - you can't force her to eat.

Don't worry OP, seven months is so young! It really doesn't matter if she doesn't eat her lunch if she's eating well at other meals and still having lots of milk.

Don't worry. Just keep offering her 3 meals a day, and if she doesn't want to eat then that's ok. If she's still like this in a few months time then I would mention it at her check up, but you'll probably find that she starts to become much more interested in food during that time.

As DS's nursery keyworker cheerfully told me last week, "Tinies are weird".

Try her with fruit that she can have a go at herself and if you're really worried Heinz do a cheesy pasta porridge thing that is absolutely horrible but DS loved and which would give you porridge textures but savoury flavours if it's the texture she's carrying on about. But really don't worry, she'll probably take wildly against porridge next week and eat lunch happily.

Babies. Giant weirdos.

My ds has always been like this.
Loves a huge breakfast. Love dinner, never hungry at lunch.

When he was little I used to worry about it, then I just worked round it. Now he is 18, and I rarely do Sunday lunch because of this, always do Sunday dinner!

Don't sweat it, if he eats enough overall, and isn't hungry, fine.

She is probably ravenous in the morning and really ready for her porridge. By lunchtime she will be less hungry and also there will be lots going on so she will be distracted more. Just offer her a few bits of fruit or a yogurt or whatever at lunchtime. She is only little and has a tiny tummy and she will still be getting most of her nutrition from milk. She is much too young to worry about this right now.
