Used expressed milk

If you have expressed your breast milk, put it in a bottle and started feeding your baby, how long can you keep that milk before throwing it away?
It's a waste if you've spent time expressing and then they only take half (eg if they are cluster feeding)
I read somewhere that it must be thrown away as soon as it's used, as bacteria from baby's saliva makes it unsterile. But the feeding specialist at the hospital said it's ok to keep it in the bottle at room temperature for 4 hours, even after baby has sucked from this bottle.
What do you all do?
Thanks for your help

Maybe put smaller amounts into the bottle. Maybe a couple of hours would be OK but I wouldn't go as long as 4 if they have sucked from the bottle
