Night time feeds

Hi all,

FTM, hoping I can get some other peoples opinions/experiences!
My DD is 8 weeks and BF, during the night she's usually up every 2.5-3hrs, sometimes she will go up to 5hrs if I'm lucky! When I'm feeding her, I'm picking her up when she's stirring but not eyes open yet. I usually wait a few minutes to see if she's going to drift back to sleep again as sometimes she does. Should I be waiting until her she's actually fully awake to feed her? I usually change her nappy before a feed so she is more awake when I get round to the actual feed and she generally falls back asleep at the breast and is pretty easy to transfer back to her basket.
I guess what I'm wondering is if I'm waking her up prematurely and I should wait until she's actually eyes open awake to feed her in the night or if I should carry on with the way I'm doing it?

Thanks in advance for any advice!

I used to try laying a hand gently on their tummy to see if they drifted back off.

But, is she's going 5 hours without a feed sometimes and she's easily transferable, I wouldn't be changing much because nothing seems wrong Smile
