Is my baby lactose intolerant?

Hi!
Baby is 4 weeks old. Suddenly at two weeks old he started screaming in pain when trying to pass gas. Now takes ages to settle after a bottle and wakes up in the night trumping. He's in a lot of pain, it's awful.
I can't seem to get a straight answer with info online. Doctor said try coleif or infacol which don't seem to do much.
Has anyone had similar experiences? What should I do?
I know wind distress is common in babies, but this feels a bit too extreme to be normal gassiness.
He's screaming when windy, raising his legs up and going bright red, it's awful.

Is he formula fed? We had this and HV suggested it could be cow’s milk protein allergy. We did the whole pathway and turns out he’s not intolerant at all, but just didn’t get on well with the Aptamil we were giving him from birth. He’s on Cow and Gate now and is absolutely fine

That's interesting. There have been so many posters saying the same thing since they changed the formula of Aptimil.

@BunnyRuddington I’ve read it a lot since. I mentioned it to our HV too, because if we’d been advised to try a different formula first we could have avoided the CMPA pathway altogether!
