For the first time in 9 months (plus pregnant months!) i have overindulged while out for dh's birthday. Still bf - next feed due 7am. Do I need to express milk and throw it away or should I just relax and not worry about it? Have had about 5 flasses, oops glasses, of wine, not massive glasses but feel REALLY tipsy

Relax. Your milk will be alcohol free by 7 am. In any case, there is no point in pumping and dumping....the alcohol diffuses out the breastmilk and back into the bloodstream and you do not hasten the process of disappearence at all by expressing.

In any case, even if the baby wakes up and feeds unexpectedly, what's gonna harm him - there would only be a very small amount of alcohol in the milk, and at 9 mths he's hardly vulnerable....

Glad you had a good night

were they standard pub measures plonk? if they were then you should be ok by 7am - if they were the large ones then dunno -Not something i've ever really thought about, but i'm sure I've had as much as you before and still fed one or other of the shreddies and they seem reasonably normal to me

Not standard measures, shared bottle with dh but def not 250ml glasses!! Thanks for responses, feel like have been bit over cautious now!! Although have not fancied changing nappies with hangover so perhaps not! Now where's that red wine?.....

I love the accent for the title!

DS slept really well after wine

StealthPolarBear · 13/11/2007 08:40

I've never noticed it make a difference

plonk · 13/11/2007 09:24

Morning! Head a bit woolly this am but not too bad considering how I felt when went to bed! Quite embarrassing actually as dh says I only had what amounted to just over half a bottle of wine over the whole evening, quite a difference to pre baby when could drink him under the table!! At least I'm a cheap date now

Plonk - at least you didnt come in and pass out! you were able to post on mnet, so couldnt have been too bad. Cannot wait til I can have a few drinks, DS is only 9 weeks - am driving to the handful of pre xmas bashes I am going too! I now understand why one of my friends who BFed for 12 months and abstained during both pregnancy and bfeeding is such a lush!
