Struggling with possible allergies

DD is EBF and 6 months old. I thought she might have CMPA so I went off dairy and soya for 6 weeks. Went back on, didnt notice much difference.

However she is still unsettled in the evenings and I thought I'd rather just not eat it just in case so I did another 6 weeks.

Tried again - her nappies were pastier (sorry) and a bit more frequent but nothing untoward. She also seemed a bit more upset again.

Does this sound enough for CMPA? I'm really struggling with not eating dairy, soya or egg and I'm just not convinced I'm actually doing it for any good reason.

Thoughts appreciated.

It does sound like it could be. Have you had a referral to the Allergy Clinic yet?

Horehound · 18/04/2021 22:26

And I'd say no so CE you already said yourself didn't see much difference. Igor sucked into thinking my boy had cmpa after reading stuff on here and joining a cmpa FB group. Before I gave up any dairy I took my boy to the Dr. He told me unlikely to be cmpa and to continue to eat dairy. He said even if my son did have some kind of sensitivity to it, avoiding these foods would make it worse in the long run.

I went home and honestly, it was like a switch had been flicked. It was all in my mind. I read so much shit about it I was convinced he had it, and he didn't!

So be careful posting on here and all the replies you'll get about it saying avoid X y z.

Don't. Just goto the Dr!

If say no as*

For both of mine the changes when I stopped dairy were very noticeable but the changes were much more subtle for soya and egg.
It is really hard to avoid all those foods in your diet.
If it’s evening fussiness could it just be evening fussiness. My second is a fidget , squirming, grumpy, cluster feeding baby still at 8 months all evening. She’s fine the rest of the day and night just starts at 6pm and finishes at 10pm.

This article called Mybaby is fussy, is there something wrong? gives a good picture of what is normal baby fussiness and when something more may be going on.

Thanks everyone, this is all really helpful. I'm on a FB group for allergies and I'm worried it's making me inclined to think everything is an allergy!

However my son is dairy and it's looking like gluten intolerant too so it wouldn't be beyond realms of possibility. Just don't want to cause her pain but also want to make life as easy as it can be!

I would get off that group for a start. And go to GP anyway. Smile

I've managed to get an appointment today - ,had to wait 2 weeks! I'm hoping she can refer me to a dietician just so I have someone in the know.

@Horehound I think you are right! It's so hard to know what to do for the best. DD still coughs most days and is sneezy so I keep.womdering reflux and my head hurts!
