I did a thread the other day about this but I need to vent again. DS is 5 weeks old and since birth he has projectile vomited up every feed. HV advised to me change milk which I did but it hasn’t helped. Also advised me to try anti reflux milk but that hasn’t helped either. He has now started with bad poos it literally looks like yellow water. He constantly seems uncomfortable too. I phoned the doctors this morning to be told off the receptionist to change brand of milk which I told her I have done 3 times. To which she replied “well try again” I’m absolutely fed up and don’t know what else to do. I am no doctor but I feel like he potentially needs something prescribed? But how can that happen when the doctors receptionist is refusing to give me him an appointment. Does anyone know of anything else I could doSad

Is he gaining weight?

I have a friend who went to A&E with her son and he was finally diagnosed with CMPA.

Can you film it and email the doctor the video and an explanation of what has been going on and what you've already tried?

It's totally shit but a lot of the time new mums are fobbed off. It took another friend 12 weeks to get her son diagnosed. Keep trying and don't worry about annoying anyone.

Could you ask for an appointment and when the receptionist asks what it's about say something else just to get past her and to a doctor?

Speak to your HV?

Sparkles556 · 08/04/2021 09:16

@AphroditeGoddessOfLove yes he’s putting weight on and he’s totally fine within himself. He is alert and plenty of wet nappies. It’s just the projectile vomiting and now the bad poos. I could try some of the things you have suggested thank you. It’s just so annoying when you feel like nobody is listening. Like night feeds aren’t bad enough without having to deal with projectile vomit every half an hour. It’s not fair on baby either. Thanks again for your advice

@FelicityPike I have but she’s just said the same to try and persevere with the new milk but I know it’s not going to get any better

Could your HV get you a GP or paeds appointment?
I know mine can.

My friend's baby was also putting on weight but he wasn't happy in himself. If it's reflux making him unwell then omeprazole or gaviscon could help but you'd need to speak to your doctor. Keep going, you know your baby better than anyone. Good luck 🤞🏼

@AphroditeGoddessOfLove @FelicityPike So I’ve phoned my HV and she told me to get back in touch with the GP to tell them she thinks he needs to be prescribed with baby gaviscon. So I’m just waiting for a doctor to phone me. Fingers crossed they will give him some and it works🤞🏼

Have you tried a milk without dairy?

Sparkles556 · 08/04/2021 09:55

@notagainmummy I haven’t no as I wasn’t sure I could without a HV or GP telling me to

That worked for my niece. Took a few weeks but eventually she stopped plastering the walls and floors in vom after her feeds.
Good luck!
