Gassy newborn

Seems really distressed with gas, goes red and wails. 2 weeks old. Combination fed, although only this week started him on the breast - might it be this? As he wasn't struggling with gas when only ff.
How do I stop him being so distressed?

Does he bring up any burps after you feed him? Mine sucks down loads of air when she feeds (latch is great and plenty of boob in mouth but the little lass can't seem to decide whether to breathe through her mouth or nose when feeding bless her) and we were having the same trapped wind issues. Burping alone didn't seem to do it for her so we've just started her on infacol after a chat with the health visitor and she's bringing up burps after pretty much every feed, farts like a trooper and seems much happier!
