Baby preferring bottle to breast

DS is 10 months old and is usually bf except for the 2 or 3 days a week he's away from me. He's been on 4 feeds a day, except today when I cut his mid morning one. For his before bed milk he gets a couple of ounces in a bottle to take his gaviscon with then a feed from me. This has been doing us fine except for the last few nights he will take the bottle then fuss and cry and not take the breast. Usually I'd just leave him be, thinking if he's hungry he'll feed but because he's dropped a feed today I've given him a bottle to get some more liquid into him and he's taken another 5 ounces. He's night weaned but is a very early riser and is always hungry then.

Last night I didn't let him see the bottle while we did his bedtime routine and tried feeding him first but he was having none of it.

I'm expressing for half an hour on each side once he's asleep just to keep my supply up. I think he likes the instant gratification of a bottle as there's no waiting for let down which he's always impatient about.

I'd really like him to keep feeding from me in the evenings but he's just not keen. Is there anything I can do?

I guess you can go "cold turkey" on the bottle and grit your teeth.

But honestly? I'd follow his lead, keep expressing a d bottle feed him.

It will makes it easier in the long run. Eg it won't be only you that can settle him or only you that has to out him to bed or do all night wakings.
