Has anyone donated breast milk?

A relative is currently giving her baby donated breast milk (via the NHS) as she can't feed because of a health condition.

Which has got me thinking about whether I could help....

I'm BFing a 15 month old with a reasonably good supply, but I don't pump at the moment.

Anyone have any experience of donating?

I’ve donated. You have to have a baby under 6 months when you start and can keep donating until your baby is 12 months. So yours is a bit young.

It’s a nice thing to do. I found it a bit stressful though with things like having to check the freezer temperature daily and the fear that I’d have a power cut the day before the chap was coming to pick it all up and I’d have to throw it all away! I got in the habit of proper medical hand washing though which was very useful in a Covid world!

Sorry - your baby is a bit old! So probably not suitable. (Breast milk changes as your baby ages apparently!)

That does make sense. Wish I'd looked into it earlier!
