Night feed is so long- an hour and a half!

Hello,

My baby is five weeks old, he's had a challenging start to life having spent some time in special care for low blood sugars and feeding issues. He's been home for a while now and we thought we'd cracked the feeding issues.

He's fed breastmilk in a bottle, we've noticed recently that he has bad wind so have been using infacol. He usually feeds every 2-3 hours. He's gone from having around 70ml yesterday to eating almost 100ml within 24 hours.

I've noticed the same issue keeps coming up, most of his feeds go ok however it seems the night time feed lasts for ages. Last night for example it lasted an hour and a half, he was so windy (not much coming up), coughing during, pulling back and taking ages to drink his milk.

I'm not sure where to go from here. It's exhausting for him for his feeds to last so long but he doesn't seem satisfied when I've tried to put him to bed sooner.

Has he been assessed for tongue tie @gk35? Sounds like it could be affecting feeding.

Have a read of this from Milk Matters and see if any of it sounds familiar.

What kind of bottles are you using? Tommy Tippee by any chance? Try a different type, I suggest MAM or NUK.
