Hungry baby milk?

DS will be 3 weeks old on Sunday and for the last few days he’s been wanting bottles more regularly. I was thinking of trying him with hungry baby milk but when the health visitor visited she said not to bother as it’s just a way of company’s to make more money. Is she right or has hungry baby milk made a difference to anyone else’s babies?

Hungry milk does not have any more calories than first milk
It is harder to digest so can cause stomach issues and constipation. There's no evidence it makes any difference and I wouldn't use it with a baby as young as that.
Offer more first milk if they are still hungry

P.s. your ds is probably having a growth spurt and it should settle down again

He is only tiny and is growing fast, of course he will need more milk! Hungry baby milk can cause constipation, stick what the one you are currently using.

Your HV is right, there really isn't much point in changing formula, there isn't a lot of difference between them. It may be a growth spurt so just offer more milk if he's hungry.

As has been said, the hungry milk doesn't have additional calories etc in, it just has ingredients in to make them feel full. Their appetites fluctuate all of the time, just feed when they're hungry and follow their appetite, they don't have a 'greedy' side that young, they run mainly off of instinct.

Hi, my son is 13 weeks old now and I’m thinking of switching to hungry baby milk as I want to approach that option first before introducing weaning as he is still young.
He was born 10lb 14oz and is currently around 20lb now so not the smallest of baby’s! He suffered really bad reflux which effected his feeding for the first 5 weeks but was put on several medications which made a change. I have noticed his hunger has started to increase massively over the last several weeks going from taking 4-6oz every 1-2 hours to 8oz and sometimes even draining 12oz bottles every 2-4 hours ! He is handling this amount well as he can keep it all down. However, he is still hungry after this but I don’t like to give more.

My first son was even hungrier than my second and was actually weaned at 13 weeks with the suggestion from HV. He was on hungry baby milk too, however I never really saw an improvement in his hungry while on that milk, he was just as hungry as before.

Is it worth trying the hungry baby milk first again or introducing baby rice etc. I would like to keep away from weaning him for another few weeks, but at the same time do not want him hungry.

TIA x
