HELP!!! OPINIONS NEEDED!

When bf both at home and in public, I pull my top DOWN under my boobs rather than UP as I really dislike baring my now-less-than-perfect stomach and would rather show a bit of boob instead (albeit with the aid of a strategically placed muslin square).

A friend who breastfed her babies about ten years ago keeps hinting about lifting the top UP from the bottom, thus baring less boob (but more tummy).

What do you do? Do you pull up your top or pull it down? Do you cover up or bare your mammalons? Use a proper nursing cover/apron/cape? Wear cleverly designed nursing tops?

Does anyone know of anywhere that sells covers/specific bf tops as we can't get anything like that over here.

I live in Cyprus and come back to UK for Christmas and although I KNOW it's about personal choice, I just want to see what the norm is!

Thanks in advance!!

Pull up

H&M does some great BF tops in the branches that have maternity wear and they're only about £10 each. They wash and wear really well and whilst they have a boob chicane for discreet feeding, I do tend to go over the top as well.

Hi Mamamammalon
There is a cape/ cover available on www.scrummy-mummy.comIt is american made and I used to use mine all the time. This was partly to cover my boobs and belly but also because it kept my baby focussed on the boob. My ds was terribly distracted so I invested in this poncho with dd. It was great when I was out and about as I was not really comfortable feeding in public. It is a bit better now but I still don't like baring too much flesh and luckily only really have to feed first thing in the morning and also at night. I use BF tops and justify the expense by not having to fork out on formula. No tummy is exposed and there is a variety of styles on the market atm. DD is now 14 months so the investment is worth it if you are going to feed for a while.

I prefer www.scrummy-mummy.com/busy-baby-breastfeeding-wrap-poncho to hooter hiders (although I do think they are pretty funky!)Busy Baby wraps are plain colours and do not attract the eye to what you are actually doing!! I am biased though as I have spent the past year using my black one!

Thanks Lemonaid for the spelling lesson- English has never been my strong point!!
Glad you like the baby pics Mamamallon- I didn't realise you were abroad, I have loads of really nice short sleeved tops but I just hadn't put them on the website here because it is winter and I didn't think anyone would be intersted. Let me know if you would like me to send you any photos/prices

I pull up then use a nice chubby baby to hide some tum!!
Don't think it's ever really crossed my mind to pull down.

katpotat · 08/11/2007 23:36

I pull mine up, and depending on what I'm wearing have a vest on underneath....smock style tops are good too.....after 6 months you start not to care who sees anyway

1dilemma · 08/11/2007 23:38

scrummy mummy has some nice looking stuff, there is a breastfeeding poncho on e bay but can't remember how I found it, (wasn't looking for it it came up when looking for something else)

loopyredangel · 08/11/2007 23:39

I wear 2 tops, like a polo top so I don't get cold with a low neck line jumper over it. I then via the vneck lift up the polo neck top so my tummy would be bare, but because I have the v neck everything remains covered up.

NormaStanleyFletcher · 08/11/2007 23:44

hoik up top, baby covers belly

KashaSarrasin · 08/11/2007 23:46

Pull up - with a vest underneath. I usually wear a cheap spaghetti strap vest pulled right down so it's under my boobs, then it covers my wobbly tummy too
