Dummy and feeding

Hi all, I have a little one who is 8 weeks old. I breastfeed and add in one formula bottle every day. The issue I am having is that when I breastfeed now, sometimes DS is so agitated that he cries and shouts whilst being fed. The only thing to stop him is to give him a dummy whilst in the feed. Am I doing something wrong? Any advice would be great!

What is the reasoning behind the extra bottle?

His weight gain was just satisfactory. The healthcare visitor advised another breastfeed or formula. As he struggles with feeding from breast sometimes, I introduced a bottle

It's easier to drain a bottle than to drain a breast, different motions. Used paced feeding and hold bottle at shallow incline so it isn't fed quickly. If baby has lots of wet and dirty nappies then supplementing isn't necessary.
