Hello,

FTM here so not sure if this is normal. My 4 week old baby wants to feed constantly. I spend all afternoon feeding him (well, not all the time as I think sometimes he does fall asleep!). The moment I try to have a break, he cries! Is this normal? He puts on weight every week and number of nappies are fine, so wouldn't think that he's actually starving. Help!

Yes. Totally normal. I remember those days. Stuck on sofa with boob out for hours.

Thanks @OneForTheJourney! For how long does this usually last? It's been almost 10 days already. I stared to think it was because of the nipples shields or a potential lack of milk

I can't remember exactly. On and off. My little girl is 19 months now. I feel like she fed like that for the first 6 weeks. Basically building up my supply. I spent an awful lot of time worrying/obsessing about how much/often/longer she fed. We always had plenty of dirty and wet nappies. Plus she always gained weight on her curve.
Sounds like you are doing an amazing job.

Totally normal - as long as your baby is still gaining weight and having plenty of wet nappies. I remember how hard and exhausting those days were!

I can’t remember when it stopped but my baby is now 12 weeks old and he rarely does it now. Hang in there!

Its completely normal. I spent hours watching films while my little one was attached. Do you need the shields still?

Emma5557 · 26/02/2021 11:06

@Notanotherhun unfortunately Ive tried to feed him without, but he doesn't like... I try everyday hoping he changes his mind again!
