FF babies with really really runny poo

Does anyone else have experience of babies who have such runny poos that they spill out of their nappies, up their backs and down their legs every single time they poo?

DDs are 15 weeks old and have so far been on SMA which turned their poo green and gave them terrible wind. We changed to Aptamil which they seemed to prefer but started having these runny poos every day so after a couple of months we've changed to Cow & Gate, but the same thing is happening.

I mentioin it to the Health Visitor all the time, but she assures me it's not anything to worry about unless they were doing it several times a day (it's only once).

I feel like i'm not being fair changing their milk all the time, but I were to find one that suited them then it would be better for them surely?

Help! TIA

its probably the prebiotics in the formula that is causing the runny poo - it is designed to make them more like breastfed baby poo. If you wanted it to change you might have to choose one without prebiotics. I think Hipp Organic doesnt contain them as well as SMA (which you already tried)

Thanks, that makes sense actually. I wouldn't be so worried if their poo was like bf babies if it wasn't so loose, but it seems SO much runnier than DD1's poo was when I bf her.

I can cope with the clothes changes and overflowing nappies as long as it isn't anything unusual or unhealthy going on with them.

For about a week my ff ds had inexpicably runny poos - the up the back sort. Then it just stopped.

If you're worried, you can probably get a culture done to see if it's illness-related.

My baby has always done really runny poos until about two weeks ago (he is now 17 weeks). I always had to change clothes after he had done one, and he generally did two to three a day! He has just had a tummy bug, and now his poos seem to be normal all of a sudden?? Apart from the fact he is now only pooing during the night??

He is on Aptimil, and I have heard that this milk is well know for the runny poos! I was told as long as he was happy and not dehydrated then it will be fine... (Always made me worried when I saw other babies nappys)

Thanks ladies, makes me feel a bit better knowing my babies aren't unusual. So i've just got to get on with the hand washing of poopy baby clothes until it settles down then. Yippee

Babies are gaining weight fine and don't seem at all unwell so I am just a complete worrier! Official.
