Change formula?

I'm confused what to do. Spoken to GP about baby having frequent episodes of vomitting and other symptoms and he's said it's due to overfeeding. He's breastfed then topped up with formula when needed during the day and bottle fed through the night. I don't know whether to express and feed him so I can monitor what he's having? He hasn't told me what he should be having just he thinks I'm overfeeding him. Also debating changing his formula as he said the next step is to use a thickner so looking at a thicker formula such as cow and gate comfort milk?

Why aren't you EBF?

@yahyahs22

Why aren't you EBF?
issues with latching and weight gain so we top up with formula

Ahh I see. I was going to say I remember when I was bf I always thought DS wasn't getting enough because you can't see it but he did.

How old is he?

No rash, can be mid feed, after or even upto 30 minutes after. Maybe 2 bowel movements a day seems to struggle with them

How do I get him checked? Midwife told me it was all normal (symptoms) and Dr just said overfeeding :(

Is there an infant feeding team at your hospital? If not maybe have a look if there's a lactation consultant in your area who can work with you personally to overcome the obstacles you're facing and help you on your feeding journey, whatever that might look like for you. They can also assess for a tongue tie.

Sorry posted too soon.

My DS had a tongue tie which wasn't discovered until 6 weeks even though I had been saying I thought he had one from day one.

I can't EBF as I can't make enough milk to keep him alive, so I supplement formula with a supplemental nursing system via a tube while he's breastfeeding, so he doesn't have any bottles. There's cup feeding, finger feeding and lots of things you can do if bottles aren't working for him- it may be that the flow is too fast so he's taking too much at once if he's throwing up mid feed. Are you doing paced feeding?

Is the baby gaining weight? I have a sicky baby but the main issue just seems to be my pile of washing.
