What would you do?

My baby clearly has reflux and yet my GP wont prescribe anything. She is 18 weeks and ebf. Ive tried giving up dairy and soya. At 16 weeks she had a TT diagnosed and was weighed - dropped from the 50th to the 9th. Since then TT cut, she is gaining weight in line with 9th but (maybe because of jabs) her reflux has been worse and she is reluctant to feed for a couple of days. DH and I feel we have 4 choices. What would you do?

  1. Do nothing and hope she improves with age. Her symptoms are definitely not extreme.
  2. Wean her early. This is what dr says to do.
  3. GP reluctantly gave us omeprazole when she was 8 weeks but it gave her a sore tummy. He has told me NOT to give it to her. I could just try it again.
  4. Combination feed with a comfort formula.

Really grateful for any thoughts. I feel so terrible about this

I think you have two issues here.

1 you are concerned about her weight

  1. She has reflux

Do you really need to do anything about the weight gain? She has dropped but she's gaining now and staying on a centile. It can be very common for a baby to be born on one centile and then drift down to another and stay there. This article from Kellymom has some good suggestions on improving weight gain.

2 have you had the tongue tie checked again? It's possible that there could be another tie or that the original one has reattached.

Have you spoken to a BFC too to talk through feeding after a tt snip?

Did you see any improvement after eliminating all dairy? It usually starts improving bit by not over 2 weeks Smile
