It's still pretty uncomfortable and not totally pain free yet but it no longer feels like he has a mouthful of broken glass every time I feed. One side is easier than the other for some reason - maybe my latch is better there. I don't know if I am just getting better at putting him on or if it is the antibiotics kicking in but I am so thankful that things have moved on a bit. Got the health visitor here at eleven so going to ask her to look at my worse side too see if she can spot any probs.

I have a little white spot on my bad side on the areola area - anyone know what that is about? Is it blocked?

Oh and I sent my husband to get jelonet and the guy wouldn't sell it to him because it is not for cracked nipples. I told him to go back and tell this guy that as he doesn't have boobs he doesn't get to have an opinion!

Hope things continue to get a bit better, Stefka. If the HV is any good, ask her about the white spot. Yes, this can be a blockage at the end....any bfc should be able to give you more info about this if you can describe it to them.

Jelonet - you don't need to say what it is for. It is for skin, anyway, and nipples are made of skin

Hurts like hell afterwards though - wonder if this is the infection. HV wasn't concerned about the spot so that's good. She also said she would check at the Dr's and see if she could get me some jelonet.

Hi Stefka

Any progress is progress so fantastic news!

Yeah, we had the whole 'what do you want it for?' grilling when the DH went to buy Jelonet. But since - as your DH can point out - they don't sell anything else specifically to heal damaged nipples in between feeds and the creams don't do much for healing, it is none of his business. As someone else suggested, I suggest going to another pharmacy and lying if necessary (his poor old mums bedsores for example?)

And you could always go along and ask him to imagine having the tip of his 'little fella' snapped in a bulldog clip to imagine what latching with damaged nipples feels like and then perhaps he might be a bit more sympathetic about your need to try anything!!!
