Intolerance to kendamil???

Hi I put my little one on kendamil around 3 weeks ago and ever since he has had very runny poos (which I heard was common with kendamil whilst they got used to it) but the runniness hasn't stopped and he's now pooing with every single feed so worried he is going to get dehydrated. He also has some sort of rash over his face chest and shoulders which I'm not sure is related to the change in milk with it being full cream? Just wondering if anyone has any similar experiences? Thanks

Also noticed a lot of mucus in his poop since switching to kendamil... not sure whether to swap him back to hipp? He loves it otherwise but noticing more and more problems...

My baby reacted the same way to Kendamil - I think it’s the full cream, it was too much for her so I switched her back to SMA. Was a shame because Kendamil is such a nice formula!

Ahh really I thought I was the only one as there's soooo many good reviews on it 🤦🏻‍♀️ definitely such a shame. Thanks for replying x

Those symptoms are exactly the symptoms my twins had with CMPA. When they were smaller and on a mix of pumped milk and formula it wasn’t too bad but when I quit pumping at 7 months and they went to all formula it was horrific. We tried a different formula and it was slightly worse, We were told by a dietician to try soy formula as they were over 6 months which triggered an even worse reaction and so we went on to prescription hydrolysed formula (as well as dairy and soy free diet) and all symptoms stopped within 48 hours, including extensive eczema which just vanished in a couple of days.

I would definitely consider CMPA as a possibility - i am not familiar with this formula but if there’s a different make up it’s very possible that it has exacerbated the reaction (and reactions can worsen over time too). The symptoms you mention are very typical of a non-Ige allergy.

Hi. My son is on Kendamil organic for about 2 weeks and we have the same problem with his poo. For first 2-3 weeks it was once a day massive, explosive green-yellow runny poo that leaked out of his nappy. Now it turned to be yellow, runny with lots of sticky muscus each time after feed and it gets me worried now ! Don’t know what should I do as I allready changed the milk twice after I stoped breastfeeding but I’m getting worried that he may become dehydrated. I also started to suspect cow milk allergy or lactose intolerance. I bought colief and used for about week but he got the poo after that even more runny 😩 I have no idea what to do. How is your baby now ? Did you manage the problem somehow ?

Sorry I mean he is on Kendamil for month !!!

BunnyRuddington · 13/04/2021 10:14

Sounds very much like an allergy to the milk protein rather than this one particular formula. Allergy UK have some useful information and a helpline.

Shopaholic29 · 13/04/2021 11:41

Hii ladies, my 8 week old daughter has been on kendamill for just over a month. Before this was on cow and gate. Since switching over has solved issues of sicking up after every feed, but now like others the poos are concerning, poos after every feed, runny and seedy in texture. Sometimes with mucus. Worrying about dehydration. Every morning will wake up at 4 am with very bad stomach, bringing knees up to tummy and unable to sleep, grunting with wind, then the pooing starts, already on poo 4 of the day today!!

BunnyRuddington · 13/04/2021 11:56

Shop that sounds very much like Cow's Milk Protein Allergy. Have a read of the article and see what you think Thanks

Oshsisbs · 18/04/2021 22:34

Its not allergy. My son was on combi feeding and hipp Organic and his poo was ok.
I found the group on Facebook about kendamil. Most of babies has got runny, Green poo on this formula. Im more calm now. Better runny poo than constipation i guess. And in the last 3 days my sons poo is looking much better So i will stay with Kendamil as I think Its best option for him now. I dont want to change the milk again.

Oshsisbs · 18/04/2021 22:36

My son same. Every night poo (about 3-4 in the morning) Before poo he has got bad Stomach. But after he pass the stool he seems to be better.

Hiya, appreciate it's a bit of an old post but I'm wondering what happened with kendamil. Did it turn out your boy had an intolerance only to kendamil or full cmpa? We are suffering similar simptoms. I've just moved away from kendamil in the hope they may get resolved and we dont have to address with specialised formula... x
Babyontheway21 · 09/09/2021 04:21

@Chocho87 I originally was on Aptimal he started to get explosive seedy nappies with every feed at 6 weeks so they suspected a milk allergy. He was prescribed nutramigen for a trial then I was to go back to aptimal to see if the symptoms returned they did within a day but I didn’t want him to be labelled with a milk alergy without trying kendamil as it has great reviews when people have had similar issues. I’m on week 2 and his poo is a runny green but not with every feed just once a day maybe twice some days apparently the green runny poos are normal for kendamil. I’m going to see how he is over the next week or so but so far he is a lot more settled.

Chocho87 · 09/09/2021 06:12

Thank you so much for the update. All formulas are supposed to be the same but clearly not. The same happened to us but on Kendamil and since we moved to Hipp, touch wood, things are much better. I'm glad your little one is ok now! :)

No - we changed to Hipp as the slimy poo (not always green) just increased and increased. On Hipp it stopped in a day, so it was clearly the cause. But green poo can be transient and related to something else...

Blondexx · 29/11/2022 04:06

Hi All,

My 3 month old son is currently on Kendamil Organic. He was on Aptamil before and Aptamil anti-reflux formula before that but both milks made him constipated.

Kendamil has been great in terms of him not being constipated and he is now pooing 1-2 times a day. However, his poos are runny, almost diarrhoea like and seedy and he is now sick after every feed as well as in between feeds. Other than this he is happy in himself, he is not unsettled and does not appear to be in pain but I am concerned about how often he is sick as he we have had him weighed in the last 2 months with the HV and he is slightly below where he should be in terms of weight gain.

Any advice would be much appreciated- thanks 😊 x

JAS12345 · 04/09/2023 19:12

I have the same issue - did this settle down for your little one?

SiouxsieSiouxStiletto · 04/09/2023 21:59

@JAS12345 I think you might need to try an @ to get the person you're addressing to come back Wink

vsoko123k4 · 20/09/2023 05:49

Oml this is exactly whats happening to my 8 weeks old baby at the moment,
same thing, diarrhoea, rashes on face & bit on chest ever since switching to Kendamil.
How did you manage to rectify it?

JAS12345 · 20/09/2023 08:55

@vsoko123k4 - we have now switched to SMA over the past two weeks and she is back to normal 🙂 It’s a shame as I really love kendamil as a brand but original is too thick for her stomach and Kendamil comfort is too loose. Good luck!

SiouxsieSiouxStiletto · 20/09/2023 22:24

@vsoko123k4 it sounds as though she has CMPA. Do the symptoms sound similar?
