Encouraging finger foods

My DD’s 10 months old and usually eats whatever we’re eating (either from a spoon or with us holding food up for her to take bites). We’ve always provided finger foods and she used to have a bit sometimes but recently everything’s just been thrown on the floor. It wouldn’t worry me but now she’s also starting to get fussier about being fed - turning her head away even when it’s something she likes.

I tried one meal where I didn’t feed her at all but that just resulted in a very messy floor, a tiny bit of nibbled fruit and a tantrum. Any advice on how to encourage more self feeding?

I'd just carry on with not feeding her. Give her some nice things like maybe banana pancakes for breakfast and just eat yours and ignore the tantrums.

Once she's worked out that refusing to eat doesn't have the desired affect on you, she'll start to eat properly.
