Hi all
Not sure if this is a feeding aversion or something else...
Started off EBF my now 4.5 month old. Tongue tie snipped at day 3. Diagnosed CMPA so I've been dairy and soy free for ages now and no more allergy symptoms. At 10 weeks she was put on omeprazole for silent reflux. Her weight gain was poor so HV was convinced I had low milk supply. I pumped like mad and even went on domperidone- which did in fact give me a modest over supply but DD just became increasingly fussy at the breast. At first I thought it was a nursing strike following her jabs (she has reacted quite badly to these each time) but she just won't feed well- constantly on and off and whining and crying. Was told to supplement with formula so I did, but she is so constantly unsettled that I never got a chance to pump so my supply has now inevitably dipped. In the middle of all this, I got excruciating nipple thrush so we both were given cream and gel- improved my pain slightly but not completely cleared so starting oral meds tomorrow for this. I've pretty much given up on BF as it's been a massive disaster but now she will not take the bottle of top up formula either! She turns her head away or makes a kind of squirmy/uncomfortable face. I have to offer repeatedly to get her to have any at all. She doesn't cry at the bottle or when I put her into feeding position. The GP doubled her dose of omeprazole last week and this hasn't done much either. I'm at a loss as to what's going on? Being referred to paeds this week as the dietician is concerned about her feeding behaviour. Other than that, she's a fairly needy/whiny baby and I can put her down for a maximum of 5 mins (if that) before she starts fussing again. I just don't know what's going on and am so worried about her weight and milk intake. And also how she will cope with solids D:
Wondering if anyone has had similar experiences and what the issue could be?! We even ended up in A&E at one point because she was crying inconsolably and refusing to feed AT ALL. The wonderful doctor there told me it was just a bad case of colic and that if I didn't manage to get 90ml down her, they'd tube feed her -_- and if it happened again, just come back for tube feeding.
