My friend's 7 week ds has been admitted to hospital after deterioration in feeding. Diagnosis still not sure but probably severe reflux. But poor little mite totally phobic of being fed now as pain on feeding. He's on a naso-gastric tube so he's not starving but has anyone had this experience re. fear of the bottle and how did you overcome it? She isn't breast-feeding at all. My husband is paediatrician so it's more just advice re. bottle/teat etc. Thanks.

What a terrible story.....I can't really help but I hope someone will have thought about suggesting relactation to this mother. Even if she has not breastfed at all, she can bring in a supply, and if she has breastfed, it will be easier....she'll need support and information and a lot of encouragement, but if her baby is so ill and cannot bottle feed, she might be prepared to give it a go.

Do you know why she isn't breastfeeding?
