Midwife just been out. She told me to express and use a bottle or to get nipple shields. I am scared to do anything that will disrupt the milk though. She said now that I have been feeding for a week that he will be ok with a bottle - he will go back to the breast. I am worried he won't though. She also pointed out that I won't get this time back and at the moment I am just dreading every time he wakes up. I honestly don't know what to do for the best.

Hi, can't offer much help but wanted to say I'm sure someone will be along so whose had a similar experience.

Have you tried a bf support line such as NCT or La Leche League?

Stefka, sorry to hear about all this

You do need to speak to someone in real life though - do I recall seeing that someone was coming to see you? Can you speak to them today?

Do not panic about using a bottle - it will not mean the end of breastfeeding and he will be coaxed back to the breast as long as you maintain a supply. If you do express you need to do it often, at least 8 x in 24 hours, so it is not an easy option

Shields should only be used as a last resort, IMO, as babies get more hooked on them than a bottle and they deffo reduce the flow
