Hi,

Would love to hear from some other mums who had small appetite babies, i feel like i need some reassurance she will grow into a normal child!

She drinks about 20-25oz per day, no more than 4/5oz max per feed anything between 3-4 hours. Some of this is 2 night feeds as well x

Yes me! My baby is exactly the same, was born low birth weight at 36 weeks and now at 14 weeks still only weighs about 10lbs (somewhere between 0.4 and 2nd centile). Won't drink more than 3-4oz at a time and still has two night feeds. Are you worried about your baby's weight or more that you are still having to feed her so often even at 3 months old? It is frustrating when you wish they would go a bit longer between feeds during the night, during the day not so bad. No advice I'm afraid, but can definitely relate to your situation. My HV is happy with weight gain so just got to carry on...

My DD was born at 36 weeks with a low birth weight (3lb 9oz) and she had a small appetite. At 3 months some days I struggled to get 18oz a day into her (she did have reflux though) but she went up to the 9th centile so must’ve been taking enough.

Even now at almost 9 months she won’t take more than 6oz per feed. She was much better once on solids and is now around the 40th centile for weight.

As long as your baby is gaining weight, lots of wet/dirty nappies and thriving, I wouldn’t worry. I spent far too much time worrying that I missed out on so much. Sad

Thank you! Thats so good to know. She seems to be doing fine, wet nappies etc so i think i just need to stop worrying x

My boy is 12 weeks old and drinks about the same. He's 14lbs2oz.

My baby is 5 months (23 weeks) and has never taken more than 20oz in 24 hours.

It's usually 15-18oz. Just cannot get her to drink more. A 4oz bottle taken over an hour is a cause for celebration in this house.

Fuckadoodledoooo · 04/02/2021 14:17

She was born on 9th centile, she's been on 25th-30th since 8 weeks. So she's growing but lord knows how.

Fuckadoodledoooo · 04/02/2021 14:21

Everyone assumes she drinks often - she can go 4-5 hours between feeeds, 2oz could last her all that time. I'm dreading weaning, she'll take even less milk then.

A bit late to the party but just wondering how you are are getting on Riversmum? I currently have a 12 week old who will not take more than 18-20oz a day. We have tried everything which ended up in a feeding aversion we had to get past. At previous checks she was tracking along her centile (after dropping from the 50th) but due a weigh in this week and so nervous! Hoping she just needs less than the guidelines say!

Kped we are going through this now. Any advice on how to get through it, what helped or how it all went?
